Introduction

We offer quality bed and breakfast accommodation in a relaxed and friendly environment.  We have five guest bedrooms, three on the first floor, (The first floor has a split landing) one on the first landing and two on the next landing.  There are a further two bedrooms on the second floor.  The rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished to provide a comfortable and relaxed stay.

Pre Arrival
Guests will be asked if they have any special requirements at the time of booking.

Car Parking
There is free on street parking on Park road, there is also a public car park about a
minutes walk away on Broad Street.

Assistance with luggage is offered on arrival

Reception and General Areas

There are three steps (7” deep) up to the porch and one more step into the reception area. (8” deep)

The reception area is tiled and all other areas on the ground floor have wooden floors.

An explanation of all facilities and the layout of the premises will be given and emergency
evacuation is displayed on each door.

An information book is available and is in each bedroom. 

Fresh milk is available.

A list of all out of hours and emergency numbers are in the information pack in the rooms.
Guests are asked to ring the house number in an emergency in the night if they need assistance.

Bedrooms 
All the bedrooms are fully carpeted. 
Each bedroom has its own door key and also a key for the entrance door. 

The four poster room on the first floor is extremely large and spacious.  The height of the bed from the floor is 60cms. There are showers in each bedroom.  These are easy to operate and regulate the temperature.

The toilet frames are 40cms off the floor in all rooms. 

The family room (superior) on the second floor is spacious.

The dimensions on the bed and toilets are the same in the other rooms apart from room 2 on the first floor and room five on the second (the beds are 5cm lower).

All the rooms have kettles, complimentary trays, DVD players, televisions and CD players.

Environmental Policy


At Laurel Cottage Guest house we are aware of our impact on the environment
and are taking simple and effective measures to become more environmentally friendly.

Energy:
Energy efficient light bulbs are used where possible.
Some lighting is on timers to be more efficient.
Our Boiler has recently been updated to a Grade A efficient boiler and is operated by a room stat.
Appliances in the room are not left on standby when not in use.

Waste:
We recycle all that we can which includes the content of guest room bins.
We also make our own compost for the garden.

 Water:
 We have some toilets fitted with a double flush mechanism to reduce water
Usage and water saving devices in others or have them set on the minimum setting in the cistern.

 Ecology:
 We are members of Nurture Lakeland and support the maintenance and repair of the fells and the conservation of the Red Squirrel.
We have feeding stations for birds in the garden and nesting boxes which are in use.

 Procurement:
 When purchasing goods for Laurel cottage we use local produce from local suppliers.
Our room toiletries are sourced locally and are from an environmentally
aware company called Pure Lakes who only use natural products.
Our tea and coffee from Farrers in Kendal who only use ethically sourced produce.
Our jams are homemade and locally sourced.
Cleaning products are phosphate free.
